The driver of the No. 1 Mohawk Hattori Racing Enterprises Toyota toured the 0.75-mile paved tri-oval in 23.300 seconds.
“It’s my first NASCAR pole in only my fifth race on asphalt and I have a great team who gave me a fast car,” McLaughlin said. “Hopefully we can be around at the end and contend for the win.”
Colin Garrett qualified second with a 23.501, Sam Mayer was third with a 23.571, defending Memphis 150 presented AutoZone winner Ruben Garcia Jr., was fourth with a 23.683 and Derek Kraus rounded out the top-five with a 23.687.
