Millington, TN (August 14, 2012) Bracket racing is considered to be the backbone of all grassroots drag racing. Memphis International Raceway is one of 90 IHRA member tracks where racers compete weekly to earn points and a chance to be named the Summit Super Series track champion. The track champions from each member track will move on to race other track champions at each division’s Summit Team Finals. The winners of the divisional team finals will go head-to-head in the Summit Super Series World Championship where the best 16 racers in each class from the U.S., Canada, Aruba and New Zealand will compete for the World Championship Ironman, a championship ring, and over $10,000 and additional prizes. Memphis International Raceway is proud to be hosting the Summit Team Finals October 3-7, 2012 as well as the Summit World Championship October 10-14, 2012.

At MIR, the excitement at the Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams intensifies each week. “With only 2 races left and 5 local drivers with only 4 rounds of action separating them, the points battle for the Super Series is really heating up at Memphis International Raceway,” said Paul Cartwright, Director of Operations. Tony Newberry currently leads with 191 points, closely followed by TJ Tracey with 182, Danny Nelson with 171 and Jason Moore with 160 making this anyone’s game. The next two weeks will determine who will be named the Super Series Champions from MIR. For up to the minute Summit Bracket Series points standings, visit www.racermir.com.

Saturday, August 11 was another action packed night of bracket racing at MIR with Mark Meadows winning the Super Pro Class with a .010 reaction time, 4.759 E.T. at 140.83 MPH.
