Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams - August 11th Race Recap

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (August 13, 2018) – Saturday night was a points race at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) in the Summit Racing Equipment Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams. Ricks Powder Coating Box, Luttrell Belting and Supply No Box, 2nd Hand Power Stock/Super Stock, Engines Inc DOT Street, and Inman Murphy Pest Control Jr. Dragsters all raced. 


The finals in the Ricks Powder Coating Box class pitted David Eubanks, from Jonesboro AR, racing his 2010 Racecraft against Chad Cherry, from Henderson TN, in his 1993 Chevy S10. Cherry had Eubanks off the tree, but Eubanks was able to take the win with a breakout run by Cherry took runner up in the class after breaking out in the finals, finishing with a 6.098 on his 6.11 DI at 109.74 mph. This runner up finish and the 71 points Cherry earned moves him into first place in overall points in this class.

Luttrell Belting and Supply No Box class had Kyle Rumley, from Huntington TN, racing against Greg Johnson from Covington, TN. Rumley took the win, running a 6.728 on his 6.70 DI at 100.67 mph. Johnson was racing his 1982 Chevy S10 and he finished runner up in the class after running a 6.986 on his 6.96 DI at 94.77 mph. Rumley’s win moves him into second place overall in points in his class, 29 points behind the leader, David Elam, who picked up 40 points on Saturday.

The Engines Inc. DOT/Street Class was a family battle between father and son, both local racers, racing Mustangs in the finals. Eric Hardy from Millington, TN, raced his 2009 Mustang against David Hardy, from Munford, TN, racing his 2013 Mustang. David caught a red light on the tree and handed the win to his son, Eric, who ran 14.437 on his 14.40 DI at 94.63 mph.

2nd Hand Power Stock/Super Stock had George Cox from Memphis, TN, facing Matt Reed, from Huntington, TN. Cox was racing his 1997 Trans Am and Reed was running his 1979 Camaro. Cox had Reed off the tree, with a .033 reaction time to Reed’s .070, and he took the win, finishing with a 11.028 on his 10.95 DI at 115.78 mph. Reed’s runner up finish came with a 11.444 pass on his 11.38 DI at 117.58 mph. Cox’s first place finish earned him 62 points, which is enough to move him into fourth place in overall points in this class.

Inman Murphy Pest Control Jr. Dragsters saw Jules Mettetal, from Sardis, MS, racing his Jr. Dragster against Landon Graves, from Jackson TN, in his 2002 Spitzer. Graves lost the race at the tree, with a .245 reaction time to Mettetal’s .092. Mettetal’s winning pass was an 8.554 on his 8.45 DI at 75.78 mph. Graves took runner up in the class and his last pass was an 8.119 on a 8.10 DI at 79.98 mph. Graves is sitting in seventh place and Mettetal is right behind him in eight place in overall points in this class.

We’re racing for points again this Saturday, August 18th, in the next race in the Summit Racing Equipment Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams. Ricks Powder Coating Box, Luttrell Belting and Supply No Box, PTC 6.0 & Rick’s Powder Coating 7.0, Engines Inc/DOT Street, and Inman Murphy Pest Control Jr. Dragsters will race.
