MILLINGTON, Tenn. (June 25, 2018) – It was a great weekend of racing at Memphis International Raceway for Door Wars, with Pro Mods racing alongside our bracket program in the continuation of the Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams.

The finals in the Outlaw Pro Mod class saw Bubba Stanton from Potts Camp, AR, racing local racer, Tony Williams, from Millington, TN. Both racers were driving Camaros, with Stanton in a 69 and Williams in a 68. Bubba Stanton was running consistently fast all afternoon, running a 3.748 at 207.56 MPH in the first round, and then mirroring that exact same ET in round 2, at 207.72 MPH. Tony Williams cut it too close and caught a red light in the final race, giving the win to Bubba Stanton who cruised to an easy victory with an ET of 5.559 at 95.89 MPH.

The Southern Pro Mod finals was a family battle between Tommy Cunningham, from Murray, KY, racing his uncle, Ricky Cunningham, also from Murray, KY. Tommy had Ricky off the tree with a .032 reaction to Ricky’s .110. Tommy stayed out in front and took the win with a 4.675 ET at 146.26 MPH. Ricky finished with a 4.723 ET at 148.62 MPH.

The Rick’s Powder Coating Box Class had the highest car count of the weekend and the finals pitted Danny Thomas from Henderson, TN, in his 04 Corvette against Kenny Pease, from Dyersburg, TN, in his 67 Chevy Bel Air. Pease got a red light on the tree, with a -.015 reaction. Thomas’ reaction was 0.15 and he ran a 5.393 on a 5.40 DI at 128.13 MPH to take the win in the Box Class.

The Luttrell Belting and Supply Company No Box Class had Huntingdon, Tennessee’s Kyle Rumley racing in the finals in his 77 Buick Skylark. He faced Harold Shackelford, who was in his first finals in a bracket race at MIR. Rumley has won many times at MIR, and his experience showed as he took the win on Saturday, running a 6.992 on a DI of 6.97 at 96.38 MPH with a 0.12 reaction. Harold’s reaction time, .038, ended up costing him the win. He ran an 8.231 at 81.10 MPH on his 8.23 dial in.

The Inman Murphy Termite and Pest Control Junior Dragsters had two local racers facing each other in the finals. Hunter Ray, from Covington, TN, raced Devin Johnson, from Collierville, TN. Hunter was running his 2003 Mike Bos Jr. against Devin’s 2012 M&M Jr. Dragster. Devin cut it too close and caught a red light on the tree, handing the win to Hunter who ran an 8.651 on an 8.60 dial in at 75.72 MPH.

The Engine’s Inc DOT/Street class’ finals was a battle of the Chevy’s with Randy Gregory, in his 94 S10 racing against Kay Scott in her 1980 Malibu. Randy, from Dyersburg TN, ran a 13.052 on a 12.97 dial in at 105.21 MPH. Kay ran foul, with a reaction of -0.45, handing the win to Randy.
