2018 Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams - Race One Results & Points Standings

Monday, March 19, 2018

March 19, 2018 (Millington, TN) - The 2018 Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams had an exciting weekend of racing at Memphis International Raceway.

The 2018 Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams featured racing from five divisions -  Rick’s Powder Coating Box, Engines Inc. DOT/Street, 2nd Hand Power Stock/Super Stock, Inman Murphy Termite and Pest Control Jr. Dragster, and Luttrell Belting and Supply Co. No Box.

The Inman Murphy Termite and Pest Control Jr. Dragsters brought one of the biggest opening days fields in recent years to the track on Saturday. We saw two young, local racers; Devin Johnson from Collierville, TN face off against 2017 Track Champion, Devan Lowe out of Covington, TN. Devin was running his 2013 M&M Junior Dragster and Devan was racing his 2018 Mile Boss Junior Dragster. It was a hole shot win for Devin in the finals, taking the win with a 9.574 at 40.53 MPH.  The 9.574 is off of Johnson’s normal 8.15 dial in, but for the defending track champion, it was enough to take the win. We’re excited to see the growth in this class throughout the rest of the season.

The Rick’s Powder Coating Box class saw Chad Roach from Stationville, TN facing local racer, Leigh Hubbard, from Millington, TN in the finals. Chad’s 63 Corvette was running strong all day, and that continued into the finals which was shaping up to be a very close race. Chad who had been near perfect in the later rounds of the race with a dead on his dial to four over, was going to be tough to beat.  Hubbard who had a triple zero reaction time in the semi-finals needed to be near perfect in the finals.  Unfortunately, Leigh went .008 red in the finals in her 04 M&M, giving the win to Chad and a slight advantage after race one in the points chase
