Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League Comes to MIR

Tuesday, March 13, 2018

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (March 13, 2018) - Memphis International Raceway is excited to announce the addition of the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League to our 2018 racing calendar!

This year’s event, Memphis Bluff City Nationals, will be held Friday and Saturday, May 11th and 12th, at Memphis International Raceway.

The premiere pulling series in the United States, Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League, tours the country showcasing the most extreme vehicles and the most talented pulling drivers in the world. Featuring eight different vehicle classes from four-engine, 5000+ horsepower tractors, to flame throwing jet turbine powered semi-trucks, it is a uniquely American competition that highlights the combination of sheer horsepower and driver skill.

Memphis Bluff City Nationals will feature three classes: Super Modified Tractors, Super Modified 2WD Trucks, and Mini Rods.

The Super Modified Tractors feature four Hemis, three Turbines or Allison Aircraft Engines singing in harmony, throwing dirt with over 10,000 horsepower. These Super Modified Tractors tip the scales at 7,800 pounds and need every one of those horsepower to make it down the track.

The Super Modified 2WD Trucks have colorful American-made truck body styles, equally dazzling paint schemes and some of the more popular personalities behind the wheel. Using supercharged and alcohol-injected drag racing-type engines, these Trucks shock the crowd with their power and on-track antics. The weight transfer characteristics of these Trucks results in thrilling, towering wheel-stands at various points along the track to the delight of fans!

The Mini Rods are compact and exciting! Weighing a maximum of 2,050 pounds, their methanol-fueled hemi engines can produce 3,000 horsepower. The concoction of high horsepower to weight ratio demands great driving skill and fast hand-eye coordination with wheel speeds of 100+mph. The Mini Rods are always a fan favorite!

Southwind Dental is a proud sponsor of Memphis Bluff City Nationals and Dr. Messer is going to be running in the Super Mod 2WD class. Dr. Messer has been racing the Lucas Pro Pulling League since 2010 and is excited for this event to come to Memphis. “I’m so proud in helping bring this to Memphis. When the fans get a sense of the raw horsepower involved in this sport, they’re going to be amazed!”. Said Dr. Messer when asked about Memphis Bluff City Nationals.

Race fans do not want to miss Memphis Bluff City Nationals, Friday and Saturday, May 11th and 12th. The mud-slinging, engine-roaring excitement starts at 7pm!
