Five Questions With Pam Kendrick for Memphis 125 on June 3

Sunday, May 28, 2017

Memphis International Raceway President Pam Kendrick took time recently to answer questions about the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Memphis 125 on Saturday, June 3, and what it means to have NASCAR back in the Mid-South.

Kendrick, who was named track president July 2016, has served in a variety of roles since coming to the facility in 2001. She was named vice president and general manager in 2011, and has led a major rebuilding effort of a sports complex that now hosts 150 events and welcomes over 300,000 visitors annually.

Pam Kendrick - President General Manager

1.   What have you heard from fans about their excitement surrounding NASCAR’s return to the Mid-South for the first time in eight years?

“There has been an overwhelming sound of excitement from fans and the community. The fans in the Mid-South are ready to see the 3/4-mile tri-oval back in action as we host the NASCAR K&N Pro Series Memphis 125.”

2.    What does NASCAR’s return mean for the local racing community?

“This event brings back the potential for more racing at the 3/4-mile tri-oval, where we go from here to build weekly programs or expand into the national series of NASCAR.”

3.    How important is it for the community to show up for the Memphis 125 and show their support for NASCAR?

“This is the platform we have to build on, for the future.  The support at this race sets the tone for the near future.  NASCAR is a household name that we need back for the Mid-South and Memphis International Raceway.”

4.    What are some of the activities planned to give fans access to the future stars of NASCAR like Harrison Burton and Todd Gilliland?

“The day will be filled with racing action and there will be a full field autograph session on the front stretch before these young guns take the green flag.  For those that want to get a little more personal experience, we are offering lunch with the drivers, hosted by Jeff Burton, in our VIP tent. There is an additional charge to upgrade. The package includes tent access all day, a trackside location, special gift with race essentials provided and much more.”

5.    Ticket options surrounding this event include the opportunity for fans to watch the race, meet the drivers and to get in the driver’s seat of a NASCAR race car and take laps around the speedway. What can you tell us about that?

“If you want to have the ultimate weekend — I suggest the Ultimate Racing Experience – watch the young guns of NASCAR on Saturday and get behind the wheel of a race car at MIR on Sunday. I don’t think it gets any better than that.”
