Four Races and Over $100,000 up for Grabs

Sunday, September 11, 2016

With the second day of the Great American Bracket Race coming to a close with four races, over $100,000 up for grabs and a golf cart race to end the night, it was a day to remember.

The $50,000 to win got underway just after 10 a.m. on Saturday and by 7 p.m. the winner was crowned.  With 129 drivers taking the track in round one, with the same goal in mind, it would be a day of the closest losing packages Memphis International Raceway (MIR) has seen in a long time.  When all was said and done, it was Jeff Bobo of Walnut, MS and Tony Giambrone of Metairie, LA.  Giambrone with a .001 reaction time in the semi-final to take the win over Stacy Tritch, but he wasn't able to match that in the finals.  Bobo with a .001 reaction time running a 4.77 with a 7 on a 4.77 dial-in took the win over Giambrone who had a .013 reaction time running a 4.77 with a 2 on a 4.77.

The 2nd Hand Power Stock/Super Stock would see George Cox of Memphis, TN paired against Ronnie Charnes of Olive Branch, MS.  Charnes who was a little to quick on the tree would give the win to Cox with a .032 reaction time running a 11.19 with a 3 on an 11.18 dial-in.

In the Ultimate Junior Dragster Challenge it would be an all Louisiana final with Jordan Broussard of Carencro and Dylan Rallinson of Bastro.  It would come down to the tree and a break out run.  Broussard would take the win with a .043 reaction time running an 8.04 with a 1 on an 8.02 dial-in to Rallinson's .165 reaction time breaking out with a 8.19 with a 7 on a 8.21 dial-in.

Finishing off the 1/8-mile racing was the American Race Cars Shootout with 32 drivers vying to take home the coveted NEW 2016 American Race Cars Swing Arm Dragster. It would come down to Slate Cummings and Clint Dishman.  Dishman was a little late on the tree and a breakout run would give the win to Cummings with a .011 reaction time running a 4.60 with an 8 on a 4.58 dial-in.  Dishman was .025 on the tree with a break out run of 4.866 on a 4.87 dial-in.

As the winner's circle was center stage the racers were ready to enjoy the FTI after party with the 330' annual Alliance Racewear golf cart race.  The race came down to the team of Drew "Mann" Tracy and Tritch paired against the team of Quick and Weaver.  Tracy looking to repeat his win in 2015 came up a little short when he was too quick on the tree giving the win and $500 pay day to the team of Quick and Weaver.

Thank you for a great day of racing and MIR will pick up with a $10,000 to win for Electronics and 2nd Hand Power Stock / Super Stock on Sunday.
