Three Drivers with Perfect Days take the Win during the Summit Bracket Racing Series at Memphis International Raceway

Monday, May 2, 2016
Despite a threat of weather, the sun broke through at the fourth Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams race of the year this past Saturday and three drivers dominated the day. The race produced a mixture of new winners and some familiar faces at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) with Buddy Ferrell, Drew Tracey, and Kyle Rumley taking center stage.

The R. T. Turbines Junior Dragster class saw Millington, Tennessee native Drew “Mann” Tracey face off against Collierville, Tennessee native Devon Johnson. Tracey would have a flawless day with consistent runs round after round. The finals would be a rematch of round one with Tracey taking the win at the tree with a .070 reaction time running an 8.543 on an 8.38 dial-in to Johnson’s .214 reaction time running an 8.88 on an 8.85 dial-in. The win moved Tracey into the top spot in points with a 31 point advantage over Taylor who didn’t make the race. Johnson and Rose also made their way into the top five.

With seat time so important to the young racers, R. T. Turbines Junior Dragster 2nd Chance race saw Covington, Tennessee native Devan Lowe taking on Ripley, Tennessee’s Wade Rose. Rose was a little quick at the line, turning on the red, and Lowe took the win with a .238 reaction time running an 8.566 on an 8.55 dial-in.

Rick’s Powder Coating Super Pro class saw another flawless performance on the day with, Brighton, Tennessee’s Buddy Ferrell going from round one to the final round, taking win light round after round. Bobo was on the same path after a second round buy back until meeting up with Ferrell in the semi-final round. The round would go to Ferrell with a better light paving the way for Ferrell and Ashmore to shake it out. Ferrell would stay consistent and again take the win at the tree with a .014 reaction time running a 5.02 with a 5 on a 5.02 dial-in to Ashmore’s .017 reaction time with a break out run of an 8.362 on an 8.37 dial-in.

The Rick’s Powder Coating Super Pro/Box class was setup for a shakeup in the points but current leader Jesse Bobo of Walnut, Mississippi would have none of that. Bobo protected the top spot and extended his lead over second with Ferrell moving into the top five as well. Stout missed the race and fell out of the top five.
