Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams race number two in the books

Tuesday, March 8, 2016
Race number two of the 2016 Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams is a wrap at Memphis International Raceway (MIR). Racers and fans witnessed more new winners and some returning for the first time in 2016. With five finals to be decided at the end of the day, whether it be excitement, nerves or determination, four of those five finals would be determined by red lights.

The RT Turbines Junior Dragster class saw the likes of Tara Taylor, Drew "Mann" Tracey, Brianna Moore, and Wade Rose, appearing in their respective final. The first final in the main event saw Tara Taylor from Somerville, Tennessee paired with Drew "Mann" Tracey of Millington, Tennessee. Tracey was looking for the first win of the season after taking home the runner-up spot in race one. It wasn't meant to be, Tara Taylor took the win with a hole shot with a .001 reaction time and running a 7.98 with a 2 on a 7.92 dial-in over Tracey was a little late on the tree with a .80 reaction time running a 8.20 with a 5 on a 8.20 dial-in.

The RT Turbines Junior Dragster 2nd Chance saw Wade Rose of Ripley, Tennessee paired against Brianna Moore of Millington, Tennessee. Moore was a little too quick, turning on the red leaving just .017 too quick giving the win to Wade Rose with a .204 reaction time and running a 10.69 on a 10.64 dial-in. This marked Rose's first trip to the winner's circle for a point's race.

The points after two races finds Drew "Mann" Tracey leading the way by 10 points over event winner Tara Taylor.

Foster's Towing and Salvage No Box class was going to be the will of patience, after seeing 19 reds in the first few rounds, who would have the patience to win the trophy. Two racers bringing it to a Buick versus Chevy final would find a way to get there. The final saw the Chevy Nova of David Ciarloni paired against the Buick Skylark of Kyle Rumley. Ciarloni of Collierville, Tennessee and Rumely of Huntington, Tennessee. Ciarloni who turned the reds on last week escaped until the final round over the weekend. The too quick of a start by Ciarloni turned the win light on for the final time of the day for Rumley. Rumley took the win with a .019 reaction time running a 7.27 with a 3 on a 7.26 dial-in. Rounding out the field would be Kenny Bomar in the semi's, and Caffey Broadus, David Elam and Billy Foster, Sr. in the quarters.

The points would show race one runner-up David Elam leading by a narrow nine over race one winner Greg Johnson.

RT Turbines DOT/Street looked like it may be shaping up to a battle between the number one and number two finishers in points for 2015, but a few racers had a different idea. Bradley Sanders and Chris Foster would both have early on round losses with buy backs giving them another shot. They took full advantage of the shot. Sanders in his Dodge Ram 2500 while Chris Foster in the El Camino put it to the test, winning each of the following rounds. The story of red lights would continue in RT Turbines DOT / Street with Foster going .004 red giving the win to Sanders with a .025 reaction time and running a 16.06 with a 2 on a 16.09. Foster would run it out with a 13.57 on a 13.56 dial-in. Rounding out the field would be Randy Franks in the semi's and Cliff Hubbard and Billy Foster, Sr. in the quarters.

With a quarter final appearance, Cliff Hubbard, maintains the points lead over Chris Foster by 12 after two races.
