MIR Welcomes R.T. Turbines, Inc. Back as a Partner

Tuesday, February 10, 2015
Memphis International Raceway (MIR) and R.T. Turbines announce the continuation of their partnership during the 2015 season. R.T. Turbines will return as the class sponsor for DOT/Street and Junior Dragsters in the Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams for a third year.

R.T. Turbines, Inc. is a full service FAA approved PT6A engine shop located in the heart of the Mississippi delta region. They offer engine service ranging from periodic inspection to complete overhaul and everything in between. R.T. Turbines, Inc. is ideally suited to service the agricultural aviation industry, but their engines are running on various aircraft around the world.

“R.T. Turbines has been a great sponsor of MIR and our sportsman racers. We are delighted to continue our relationship into the 2015 season,” stated Pam Kendrick, VP & GM of Memphis International Raceway. “Glenda and Rex Thompson are incredible people to work with and their partnership allows us to grow our program and help our young racers gain valuable time and experience on the track.”

The partnership between MIR and R.T. Turbines goes beyond the class sponsorship, R.T. Turbines offers racer incentives throughout the year and will participate in the Memphis Top-10 Challenge to encourage more participants to take part in the R.T. Turbines DOT/Street Class and promote safe racing.

"R.T. Turbines is once again a proud participant in the drag racing at the Mid-South`s premier racing venue,” stated Rex Thompson. “Our support of the Junior Dragster division is an important class for us to be involved with as this is the entry level for tomorrow`s drag racers. Not only do we want our junior racers to have a rewarding racing experience, but we also want to show the parents our support as they are the backbone of this class. This class exemplifies the often used term 'family racing'. Nowhere in the pit area will you find more family congregated than in the junior area.”

Thompson continued, “The DOT/Street class is also an important class event as this class offers everyone the opportunity to compete in equipment that is not necessarily strictly a race-only vehicle. This is a class where anyone can bring an old hotrod or the car they drive to work. For those that have competed in this class and other classes, this is the chance to race in a competitive, but friendly, event that is just as much for fun as anything. For those that may be just now trying drag racing and have a desire to learn the sport of bracket racing, this is the place to do so. I would invite all of the Test N Tune participants to try this class out and see for yourselves just how much fun it is to learn and compete in a safe and professional atmosphere. You will never have a better opportunity to gain the valuable skills necessary to compete in bracket racing and you will have the added benefit of bragging rights when racing with your friends. Remember, it is all about reaction time and being consistent, not necessarily speed. Come on out and have fun!"

The R.T. Turbines DOT/Street class and R.T. Turbines Junior Dragster class participate in the Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams races throughout the season. There’s a total of 14 bracket events scheduled at MIR in which sportsman racers compete for the MIR Track Championship. In addition, young racers in the R.T. Turbines Junior Dragster class have an opportunity to participate in the IHRA Team Finals and Summit SuperSeries Championship at the end of the season.
