Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams - Race 1 Results

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

The 2015 Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams season kicked off over the weekend after a month break from the sportsman class races at Memphis International Raceway (MIR). A lot of familiar faces returned to MIR to battle it out in the chase to the 2015 championship.

The 2014 Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro Champion, Rusty Ashmore and 2014 R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragster runner-up, Justin Poindexter both returned to victory lane on Saturday.  Justin had a near perfect reaction time at .001 and Billy Foster Sr. visited victory lane two times in the B&B Towing Footbrake class and the R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street class.

"It was great to see our local racers back in action last weekend," stated Paul Cartwright, Director of Operations. "We saw some great racing and some new faces at the track. The competition will be pretty stiff this new season and I can't wait to see how this all plays out."

Race Results:

R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters

Brothers Justin and Tyler Poindexter found themselves in familiar territory as they went up against each other in the final round. Justin ran a near perfect reaction time at .001 and landed in victory lane as the winner. He ran a 7.971 off of his 7.95 dial-in time at 79.37 m.p.h.   R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters Second Chance Shootout

It was another sibling rivalry in the R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters Second Chance Shootout. Layna Tracey went up against her brother Drew Tracey in the final elimination round.  The battle was a close one as Drew had a .194 reaction time and a 9.635 second run on his 9.56 dial-in time.  Layna posted a .195 reaction time and a 10.286 second run on her 10.10 dial-in time. Drew was declared the winner at the end of the night. Sophie Newberry and Devan Lowe made it into the semi-finals as well.

Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro

Rusty Ashmore proved he's a force to reckoned with again as the 2014 Track Champion walked away with his first 2015 plaque. The defending champion went up against Shane Stout in the final round.  Ashmore was declared the winner when Stout red-lighted at the line as he posted a 6.858 second run off of his 6.86 dial-in time at 99.62 m.p.h. .

R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street

It was a familiar scenario Saturday night in the R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street class. Billy Foster Sr. and Cliff Hubbard started where they left off in last seasons battle. The duo went up against each other in the final round and Billy Foster Sr. added a win to his credentials. Foster Sr. dialed-in at 14.04 and had a 14.736 second run at 70.46 m.p.h. Hubbard wound up red-lighting and he would have to settle for a runner-up finish at the end of the night.
