Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams Final 2014 Results

The Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams wrapped up their final 2014 regular season race on Saturday at Memphis International Raceway (MIR). It was a busy night as drivers were vying for Ironman's, track championships, Summit SuperSeries championships and placement on the team finals roster.     

 

 

At the end of the evening, 23 sportsman racers visited the winner' circle at MIR. Former track champions Rusty Ashmore and David Ciarloni defended their titles in Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro and B&B Towing Footbrake classes, respectively. Drew Mann Tracey garnered his fourth win of the season, Leigh Hubbard and David Ciarloni, became three-time winner's with Billy Foster, Sr. and Devan Lowe grabbing their first win in 2014.

Race Results:  

R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters

Drew Mann Tracey visited the winner's circle for the fourth time this season as he won in the final round against Brianna Moore. Moore fouled at the line, giving Tracey the advantage and the Ironman in the R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragster class. Tracey had a 9.836 second run off of his 9.59 dial-in time at 62.43 mph. Tyler Poindexter and Layna Tracey were the semi-finalists.     

  

R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters Second Chance Shootout

Devin Johnson, Tara Taylor and Devan Lowe battled it out in the R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters Second Chance Shootout. Lowe and Johnson advanced into the final round. Johnson red-lighted on the starting line, giving Lowe his first win of the 2014 season. The Covington, Tenn. driver had a 8.539 second run off of his 8.64 dial-in time at 80.55 mph.  

 

 B&B Towing Footbrake

David Ciarloni ended the 2014 regular season in dominating fashion. The 2014 defending track champion held his ground Saturday night and took home the Ironman and the track championship for the second year in a row. Ciarloni went head-to-head with John Castellaw III in the finals. Castellaw III red-lighted with a -.007 reaction time, giving Ciarloni his third win in the B&B Towing Footbrake class.   

 

Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro

Leigh Hubbard landed in the winner's circle for the third time this season in the Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro class. The Millington, Tenn. driver went up against Jesse Bobo from Walnut, Miss. in the final round. Hubbard took the IronMan win with a .016 reaction time, and ran a near perfect 4.954 off of her 4.95 dial-in time at 139.14 mph. Bobo posted a .021 reaction time, 4.968 second run off a dial-in of 4.97 at 138.30 mph.     

 

 R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street

Cliff Hubbard from Millington, Tenn. and Billy Foster, Sr. went up against each other in the final round for the third time this season. This time, Foster, Sr. would walk away victorious with a double breakout as he posted a 14.215 second run off of his 14.23 dial-in time at 87.02 mph. This marked the first win for Foster, Sr. in the R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street class this season. Hubbard had a .114 reaction time , 15.095 second run at 90.38 mph.

 

Stock/Super Stock Combo

A special Stock/Super Stock combo race was added to the schedule Saturday evening. Cliff Hubbard and DW Hopkins advanced into the final round under the lights at MIR. Hubbard was declared the winner with a 11.206 run off of his 11.23 dial-in time and a .031 reaction time. Hopkins had a .136 reaction time, 9.230 second run off of a 9.26 dial-in time at 145.59 mph.  

 

Championship Breakdown: 

R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters

Tyler Poindexter won his second track championship in the R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragster class over the weekend. He finished off the regular season with a 101 point lead over his brother, Justin Poindexter. Tyler has three wins and three runner-up finishes in the 2014 season. The dominate performance also gave him the Summit SuperSeries championship.

 

B&B Towing Footbrake

David Ciarloni was crowned the 2014 track champion Saturday night. The defending champion won with a 52- point lead over second-place finisher, T.J. Tracey. Ciarloni is credited with three wins this season in the B&B Towing Footbrake class.  Tracey was crowned the 2014 Summit SuperSeries champion in this class. 

 

Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro

A familiar face returned to the winner's circle during the season finale as Rusty Ashmore once again claimed the track championship and Summit SuperSeries championship. Ashmore battled it out in the closest points battle of the evening with Cody Graham. The Southhaven, Miss. racer ended the season with a 33-point advantage over Graham. Ashmore has two wins and one runner-up finish in the Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro class in 2014.    

 

R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street

David Elam claimed the track championship in the R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street class a couple of weeks back. The Covington, Tenn. driver visited the winner's circle five times this season and had three runner-up finishes. This marked David's first track championship. He ended up winning over Billy Foster, Sr. by 86 points.

The 2015 Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams season will kick-off next month with race number one on Saturday, September 27. The IHRA Team Finals are scheduled for Friday, October 3 - Sunday, October 5.
