Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams Results

The Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams took over Memphis International Raceway (MIR) over the weekend as drivers competed on Saturday and Sunday. The double header produced six first-time winners for this season and David Ciarloni took over the points lead in the B&B Towing Footbrake class.   

 



In addition, the Stock/ Super Stock combination races ran on Saturday evening. 17 drivers entered into the bonus race and Don Cossey from Memphis walked away the winner.  

"The IHRA Summit Team Finals is right around the corner and you can tell the pressure is on with our local drivers," stated Paul Cartwright, Director of Operations. "The racing was exciting and the weather was perfect for a double header weekend at MIR. It's hard to believe that there are only three more races scheduled in the regular season."

Results from Saturday -  

R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters

Connor Galloway made his first MIR appearance over the weekend and walked away with the win. He and Brianna Moore went head-to-head in the finals Saturday night. Galloway had a dead-on with a three at a 8.163 second run to his 8.16 dial-in time. Millington, Tenn.'s Moore ran a 7.925 at 82.37 M.P.H. for the runner-up position.  





R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters Second Chance Shootout

Three drivers transferred over to the R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters Second Chance Shootout. Breanna Bemister, Sophie Newberry and Devin Johnson battled it out with Bemister and Johnson transferring into the finals. Bloomfield, Mo.  native, Bemister wound up victorious with a stellar .000 reaction time at 78.91 M.P.H. 


 

B&B Towing Footbrake

David Ciarloni from Collierville, Tenn. returned to the winner's circle Saturday night as he won in the final round against TJ Tracey. This marked the second win for Ciarloni in the B&B Towing Footbrake class at MIR. He ran a 6.116 to his 6.12 dial-in at 112.89 M.P.H. The win also advanced the Collierville, Tenn. native into the points lead. He has a 22 point lead over Cody Graham with three races remaining in the regular season.

    

Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro

Stacy Tritch from Paragould, Ark. became another first-time winner at MIR that evening in the Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro class. After six rounds, Tritch and Brad Barclay advanced into the final elimination's. Barclay was hit with a red-light start giving the automatic win to Tritch who had a .015 reaction time and a dead-on 4.691 second run to a 4.69 dial-in time. 


 

R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street

Greg Johnson from Covington, Tenn. rounded out the night as the third first-time winner as he and Billy Foster Sr. made it into the finals. Johnson and his 1982 S10 pickup locked in a .008 reaction time with a 12.17 dial-in time in 12.208 seconds. The victory catapulted Johnson up in the point standings as he now sits in the top-five with three races remaining. 

 

Stock/Super Stock

Don Cossey from Memphis took home the victory in his '64 Plymouth over Jim Griffith. Cossey was .006 on the tree with a 11.307 elapsed time off his 11.29 dial-in.Griffith broke out at 9.698 elapsed time off his 9.68 dial-in. Jamie Tull was the lone semi-finalist in the SS/S Combo.

R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters

Tyler Poindexter garnered his fourth win of the 2014 season during Sunday's race to the championship. Poindexter and Brianna Moore went into the final elimination round and Poindexter came out victorious with a .014 reaction time, 8.085 elapsed time at a 8.02 dialed-in time. The victory expanded his points lead to 83 over Drew Mann Tracey, in second-place. 

 


R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters Second Chance Shootout

Drew Mann Tracey and Connor Galloway battled it out in the R.T. Turbines Jr. Dragsters Second Chance Shootout Sunday afternoon. The duo posted impressive times as Tracey had a .055 reaction time and a 9.374 second run with a 9.33 dial-in time and Galloway a .099 and a 8.132 second run with a 8.12 dial-in. Millington, Tenn.'s, Tracey would take the win. 

 

B&B Towing Footbrake

Sunday's B&B Towing Footbrake saw Lewis Jasper and his '79 Camaro in the winner's circle for the first time this season. The Millington, Tenn. driver went up against Alex Hubbard in the final round. Hubbard red-lighted on the line and Jasper cruised to the win with a 7.16 dialed-in time on a 7.205 second run at 96.21 M.P.H.


 

Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro

Local sportsman driver Ron Minton was among the first-time winners this season at MIR in his '68 Barracuda.  The semi-finals came down to Minton, Brad Barclay and Cricket Kern in the Rick's Powder Coating Super Pro class. Kern advanced to the finals for the first time with Minton; who would win the round with an elapsed time of 6.784 off of a 6.77 dial-in time.

 

R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street


Points leader David Elam and his '72 Nova visited the winner's circle on Sunday with a victory in the R.T. Turbines D.O.T. Street class. The final round came down to one and two in the point standings. Elam and Cliff Hubbard went head-to-head with Elam running a 9.539 on his 9.50 dial-in time at 134.47 M.P.H. Hubbard finished up the round with a 15.155 elapsed time at a 15.03 dial-in time. With the victory, Elam expanded his points lead to 137.

The next installment of the "Chase to the Championship" will be another double header weekend on Saturday, August 9 and Sunday, August 10. Entry fees are based on class and admission is $10 for crew and spectators. Children 12 and under get in for FREE.
